    1. I was in Santa Barbara—and then in San Luis Obispo for a wedding. Beautiful area.

  4. I have a copy of Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables (vinyl LP) signed by Jello Biafra which states, "Mental Illness is the Road to Freedom". A much prized teenage possession which I still cherish even though now I'm considered a ma'm by ignorant SF hipsters who clearly have no idea how truly cool I am. (At least this is what I tell myself in line at Whole Foods while my two kids hang on me and disgruntled baby faced youth with oversized mustaches snarl).

  5. I'm reading your blog posts from most recent to least recent, and the lightheartedness in this post breaks my heart after having just read your post on being robbed. I hope you were able to salvage the trip to some extent despite being personally violated. I hate people who steal - it sends me into such a disproportionate rage. I obsessed for days (and still do if I allow myself to think about it) over a desk lamp stolen from my office. It was a nice halogen lamp that were hard to come by from supplies, and one morning I walked into my office and it was gone. Someone came in after hours and took it. The worst part is that it was probably someone I knew who was silently coveting it, and were driven to such an insane desire that they had to lie in wait, sneak in after I left, and victoriously revel in how it completed their "space". If they had asked me for it, I probably would have given it to them. It wasn't even that important to me, but the act of such a petty theft sends me over the edge into a murderous rage. What a fucking pussy! Who steals an office lamp? I worked with some real douchebags, and I'd give anything to know who the culprit was and shame him mercilessly.

Anyway - I totally feel your pain and your violation - and even more so after coming across this post. I hope karma does it's job somewhere down the line.
